New Years Resolution Here I Come

I wonder if health food sales go up in January, for all those people who say I’m going to eat better this year.

I started my New Years Resolution this year but I might have gone over board. I accidentally started reading three books.

“Don’t forget, though, that such things as love, ambition, courage, and truth-though real-cannot be detected and measured.” –Alan Cooper The Inmates are Running the Asylum

The things we fight over and question the most are the things we can’t measure. Who’d have thought you could find that type of insight from a programming book.

2008 News Years Resolution Draft

Christmas Eve is tomorrow. Woot! It’s been a great year and it will be remembered. On to 2008; I have a draft new years resolution list.

  1. 0-Out all Credit Cards by January 31st
  2. Save 20,000 (eek) or put-down payment on home
  3. At least 1 post a week on www.eloyz.com
  4. At least 1 photo post (probably flickr) a week (can combine with bullet 3)
  5. Read 1 book ( less than 400 pages) from my list a month

Any one else out there courages enough to make and share their list. It can be a draft as well.

My Sister is Back in Houston

My sister is back in Houston (with my grandma). Oklahoma storms have taken her house and she’s going to be here until things get better. Her husband Joe is there to take care of business. They arrived late-afternoon, everyone was excited to see her.  Her last visit was about 2 years ago.  Before that it was about 4 years.

I didn’t get to hear much of a story as to what exactly happened to her home, I think I was more overwhelmed by her presence rather than her reason for visiting.

I’m glad she’s home and that my newphew (Maddux) is doing  well.  He has a mo hock.

My Merry Christmas

We had a Christmas party on the 7th of this month (December). It was a blast I had a good time. Great people, food, drinks, and toys at every table. This upcoming Friday we’re sharing gifts; I wonder if we should move the christmas tree or just have our celebration in the front of the office this year?

As for home, we normally have Christmas at my grand parents house. We gather-round the tree, someone plays Santa and calls out names. Everyone waits, some get all the attention and others get impatient as they realize their name hasn’t been called yet and presents are dwindling. We eat and talk about our lives and share our presents. Older cousins (me, oldest guy) and uncles make fun of the little ones. It’s good for the kids though, it grows hair on their chest.

My grandparents live a block away and I’ve visited them 0 times this year. Someone punch me.

I’m not good when it comes to family. I don’t know why, well maybe I do and I’d rather just not talk about it right now. Writing this I’m beginning to realize that I should spend more time with them.

Over the years the family fun just stopped. Or maybe I just miss the good old days when I was the kid getting all the presents and throwing all the temper tantrums.

Don’t get me wrong, I see them for most major holidays and we have the occasional hows life what are you doing now conversations. We just haven’t made it past that point lately.

Wow, I really brought this post down. I was curious as to what everyone else does for Christmas be it at work or at home.

Weblebrities and Netizens

Just wanted to let everyone know that I’m still alive, done a terrible job lately of posting. I’m sure I and other bloggers ’round the world make this type of post at least twice a year. I don’t want to write without a purpose so I leave you with some words that I’ve learned lately.

  4. Lonely Girl 15 http://www.lg15.com/

Netizen - Citizen of the Net (or web person, probably lives online, more so than they live offline)

  3. Anyone works at PopLabs

Vector Art Tutorials and Resource

Enjoy Vector Art? I know I do. Ok, honestly … I’ve never touched vector art, but it is amazing. It’s very web2.0. Very crisp clean lines, smooth (non pixelated) gradients … all together it really is a beautiful thing.

One of our latest graphic designers is amazing in vector graphics, and now you can too. He has a blog.

Stanford has also made it easy for anyone to create some vector art of their own. Brought to my attention via Will.

Lupita and Omar Wedding

Went to Lupita and Omars wedding last night. Had a great time. Learned some more photography stuff by the professional photographer there and other things as well. Other things that I learned involved wedding bubbles. You should really spend the extra time to do the research on wind direction, apparently bubbles are extremely dependent on that variable.

Overall I had a blast and as always here are some photos
